BENGALURU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT NOW RENAMED AS KEMPEGOWDA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.NEW TERMINAL INAUGURATED.

Kempegowda planned & built the city of Bangalore and he is known for  his contribution for building temples & water reservoirs.The airport's new name honours the founding father of the city.
Mr.K.N.Srivastava,Secretary,Civil Aviation,Government of India suggested to the Chief Minister to reduce the VAT on ATF to 5% from 28% to which the Chief Minister replied that he will take a decision on this.As airports are gateways to the country,the airports should be people & passenger friendly.Bengaluru airport is the 4th largest airport in the country after Delhi,Mumbai & Chennai.The terminal will have 86 check in counters,24 departure emigration counters,24 arrival emigration counters,30 common user self service check in ,26,boarding gates,13 baggage reclaim belts,32 domestic security consoles,16 international security consoles.The new terminals will also have a new VIP terminal of 10,000 Sq.ft and baby care rooms,smoking rooms,Prayer room,2 new lounges,1 day hotel,1 bus lounge,Spa,25 retail outlets,& 13 new restaurants.This airport with the new terminal will cater to 20 million passengers annually  from 11 million passengers at present.
