Wayanad is one of the most pristine regions of Kerala,known for its
picturesque mist clad hills,aromatic spice plantations,waterfalls
flanked by luxurious forests and a refreshingly cool climate,perennial
freshwater lakes,small untouched islands & fascinating wild life
sanctuaries are also places to visit in Wayanad.
Wayanad is bordered by Karnataka(Kodagu & Mysore Districts) to
the north & North East,Tamilnadu (Nilgiri District) to the south east.
Nestled among the mountainous western ghats,this green paradise
has most of Kerala's reserve forests.Wayanad has a rich historical
heritage which extends as far back as the stone age & the hills bear
overwhelming evidence of this prehistoric civilization. A large
percentage of the population of this region is tribal.
Wayanad can be reached by road by national highways & state
highways,the nearest airport is Calicut International airport and
by train also as Kozhikode is the nearest railway station.
